　　Taihu Lake, a freshwater lake in the east of China, which covers an area of 2250 square kilometers, is the third largest freshwater lake in China, just after Poyang Lake and Dongting Lake. Taihu lake has about 90 islands, ranging from a few square meters to several square kilometers. Taihu lake is famous for its unique "Taihu Stones", which are often used to decorate traditional Chinese gardens. Taihu is also known for its highly productive fishing industry. Since the late 1970s, fishing fish and crabshas been extremely important to the residents along the lake, and made a significant contribution to the economy of the surrounding area. Taihu area is one of the Chinese ceramics industry bases, among which Yixing ceramic manufacturers produce the world-renowned Yixing clay teapots.
