There are 23 rivers injecting/pouring water into the lake, most of which are seasonal. Eighty percent of the lake water comes from five major rivers. Qinghai Lake is located at the crossroads of several birds migratory routes across Asia. Many birds use Qinghai Lake as a temporary stop for their migration. The west side of the lake is the famous Bird Island, attracting bird-watchers from all over the world. Every summer, tourists come here to watch the international cycling competition.
