Dear Sir/Madame,
I am a sophomore in Beijing University, majoring in computer science. I am writing to apply for a financial aid for my study in college.
I would like to explain more about my situation here. Since I registered here, the expenses dose have been exerting a negagtive impact on my study. My mother has suddenly fallen ill and is expecting a major operation. It is beyond my parents ability to finance me through my remaining education and the income I make from my part-time jobs is far from sufficient to finance my own tuition fees. Hence, it is essential for me to get a loan of no less than 10,000 yuan. If my application is approved, all the money will go to my tuition and fees for the coming academic year.
From the part-time job opportunities offered by programs in my school, I will be able to earn more than enough to cover my daily expenses . I have a very good credit record. In addition, lenovo, a computer company, has shown great interests in a software that I desinged and promised me a 5000 Yuan mothly salary to start with if I decide to pursue my career there after graduation. So, I can definitely guarantee a repayment of my loan in the coming three years.
I would be greatly obliged if my application is granted. Many thanks.
Yours sincerely,
Li Ming

Directions: For this part, you are allowed 30 minutes to write a composition on the title Immoral Behavior in Public according to the following OUTLINE given in Chinese. Your composition should be no fewer than 120 words.
1:我们经常在公共场合见到各种不道德的行为,叙述你的一次相关经历。
2:这些不文明的行为会有哪些影响。
3:我们应该怎样改善这种现象。
Immoral Behavior in Public
To witness immoral behavior in public, one need only visit the Beijing subway. I still remember the first time I took the Beijing subway. It was an early morning. I was in a hurry to go to school. When I was trying to get a ticket, I found a lot of people waiting in front of me, but nobody was in the line. To make it even worse, when I finally approached the ticket window, some one squeezed into the line right infront of me and stepped on my toes, pretending that she didn’t hear me when I screamed. It was such a horrible experience that I don’t feel comfortable to take the subway any more.
Immoral behaviors in public exert a series of problems. One of the most serious ones is that it may exert a negative impact on our sense of social responsibility. We will keep ignoring other people’s rights and feelings, and in turn, we too will be disrespected some day.
The improvement of this phenomenon is certainly not easy. With an eye on practical implementation and cost effectiveness, I propose that society make it clear in every way that people who fail to respect the common good will be seriously punished. Stricter policies for this should be made to correct this phenomenon as soon as possible.

近几年来,中国大城市特别是北京的汽车污染问题越来越严重,有人提出每月少开一天车的建议,你如何看待。
1. 北京的汽车污染越来越严重
2. 人们提出了哪些建议
3. 我如何看待这个问题
Having over 2,600,000 motor vehicles, Beijing is worthy of the name, the city on four wheels. However, we are also paying a direct price for the rising number of cars as we have more traffic accidents, we have to suffer more traffic jams and we breathe dirtier air.
To improve this situation, people have come up with various suggestions. Many Beijing's environmentalists are calling on car owners to stop their engines for one day each month. Some government officials also suggest to make the prices of gasoline even higher to motivate car drivers to take public transportation to save money.
Though I am a car lover, I can’t not ignore the fact that cars pollute the environment and strongly support driving less. If every car owner drives one day less a month, it would help to reduce exhaust fumes and we will be able to enjoy more blue sky days. Sometimes the smallest changes can make a big difference.
E: 学生会公告
This time of year most students are focused on meeting new friends, joining new activities and upcoming classes. Thoughts of the past easily drift away while future exploits receive the most attention. But as you busy yourself with the new semester, pause a moment to remember the famous writer, Lu Xun, who would have celebrated his 124th birthday today.
In commemoration of this great man’s life, the Book Club has organized a guest speaker from Peking University to come speak to students about some of Lu Xun’s unpublished memoirs. The lecture will be in Classroom 204 in the main building, starting at 7:00 pm.
Such an academic lecture might not seem like the most appealing way to spend a Friday evening, but it promises to be an evening that will both entertain and inform even the most seasoned students of Chinese history.
