Living on-campus or off-campus?
Living on-campus makes it easier to get oriented to the way things are done. Plus, you interact more with other students. Keeping up with studies in your first year is hard enough. You should not have to worry about finding your way around and figuring out the university bureaucracy. Living in the dormitory also makes a student feel more a part of the university community. There are more opportunities for you to involve in university activities and networking with students and university administration.
Living off-campus, however, is a definite advantage for older students. Finding an apartment, dealing with leases and the landlord’s regulations, cooking meals, and figuring out budgets are all good practice for life after graduation. Off-campus housing also gives students a better perspective on what is going on around them. Campus can be like little worlds. Getting to know neighbors who are not students is good for students coming from difference places.
I think it is better for college students to live on campus during their first two years, and then move into an apartment for off-campus life.
住校还是租房?
住校可以更方便地搞清楚学校的各种运营方式。你还可以和其他同学有更多的接触。第一年要保持良好的学习已经够难了，你不应该再去担心打通人脉、搞清学校各部门的运营。住在宿舍里还能让一个学生觉得自己属于这个群体里。你会有更多的机会参与到学校活动里，并和其他同学以及学校工作人员建立关系网。
但是对于高年级的学生来说，在外面租房绝对更有益。找房、执行租房合约和房东的要求、做饭、制定预算，这些都是对毕业后的生活的有用实践。在外租房也可以让学生更清楚地了解周围发生的事。校园就像一个个小世界。认识那些不是学生的邻居们对于从不同地方来的学生来说是很好的体验。
我认为大学生前两年住学校、后两年住校外是最好的。
